Anderson was a White Plains, New York artist. A gifted artist, he was not as lucky in his lifetime. He needed to support himself as an artist and so turned to illustration. He was successful in this venue and made a name for himself.
Anderson studied at the Pratt Institute and under Birge Harrison, Hobart Nichols and Hermann D. Murphy. He was very active in local art associations and in exhibiting his work, winning prestigious awards of the day. He died at the age of fifty-five.
